Chapter 6 of the Gospel of John, which we continue reading today was written when people had come to a deeper awareness of the true implications of their celebration of the Eucharist. They had come to a deep understanding of the real presence of the risen Lord when they shared the Eucharistic Bread. It is the same deep understanding that has been passed down to us in the twenty first century.

It is our belief in this amazing Sacrament that is most important. Our profound faith and the faith of the whole Church, in the Real Presence of Jesus, when we share Holy Communion, is life-giving. This is the message we are invited to embrace today.

Every one of us, because we believe and because we share Holy Communion, have a unique and special life because we know Jesus Christ is with us where ever we may go and whatever we may do.
