On Friday last, 29th June, the church celebrated the feast day of Saint Peter and St Paul. It is a memorial of the beginnings of the Christian Church and its first evangelist to the non-Jews, St Paul, and its first Pope, St Peter. Traditionally, on the following Sunday (ie this week-end) there is an annual appeal for the special work of our contemporary Pope.

Pope Francis carries out enormous work on behalf of us all throughout the world. He is one of the best loved Popes for many decades. In particular he has brought a new hope to Catholics everywhere by his simplicity, humility and prayerfulness.

There are envelopes on the seats this week-end into which you may care to place a donation, no matter how small, to assist the special works of our Holy Father.
